The Chicago skyline is one of the most spectacular vistas of a modern city that I have ever seen.  It is designed so beautifully, so systematically, reflecting the diversity of the city as well as a sense of the modern intentions upon which it is built.  Many buildings in Chicago are award-winning feats in architecture.  Whenever I go to the city proper itself, I always get this feeling of wonder and awe at the grandeur of this city.  What great gift human beings have received indeed, that we are given the faculty of intellect to be able to design such a great city!  Beyond the physical beauty of this city, I also enjoy the diversity of cultures that make up the population.  There are packets of ethnic communities all around the city – the Italian neighborhood, the Irish, the Greek Town, the Lithuanian, the Chinatown, etc.  These cultures have blended with each other through the years, making the city even richer.

I still do not know fully well why God sent me to this part of the world, and particularly in the Chicagoland area to be a priest.  Glimpses of His divine intention become manifest to me once in a while, but i am grateful that I am here.  These great things about this city totally trumps the disadvantage of being exposed to wind chill and severe winter weather conditions.  The winter allows me to appreciate the spring ands the fall even more.  So, thank God!

This is my entry to Daily Post’s Photo Challenge: Reflections.  It is quite delayed, but I want to participate nonetheless.  I took this picture at the earlier winter, right after Christmas.  Lake Michigan is already frozen, and the iced water provides a splendid reflection of the skyline.  It’s breath-taking…

  1. This is a rare chance of getting a reflection of the skyline in Chicago. Well, maybe because I’ve never looked at it in Winter. Who wants to be there when it is bitter cold?
